Wildlife photography

3rd of June 2019  – Fagerstrand, Norway

It’s fantastic to have a whole forest behind your house, giving me the opportunity to go for a walk through the forest whenever I can.

This day I went out in the evening, testing out my new Nikon 300mm lens. It was an incredible evening with a lot of bird activity everywhere. Back on my way home, I suddenly spotted this lovely roe deer couple hiding in the lower vegetation.

14th of April 2019 – Bird island Runde, Norway

This year I finally had the oportunity to visit the bird island Runde in Norway, which houses one of the largest bird colonies in the country. During the nesting season there can be as many as half a million birds on the small island.

One of the main attractions is a large colony of Puffins on the west side of the island, where there are some steep cliffs. I photographed this Puffin in the early evening, after it returned from its fishing trip out on the Atlantic Ocean.

Solar Astronomy

Sun in Hydrogen Alpha

2015 was a great year, where we enjoyed a lot of activity on our Sun and I managed to capture some amazing moments like this one. A solar prominence that lifted off the Sun’s surface, while right next to it you can see magnetic loops. A picture of our planet Earth was inserted to illustrate the immense scale of these events.

At this moment we are going through the Solar minimum cycle, with decreased activity on our Sun. 2018 had 221 spotless days.
